10/09/22: Practice Schedule Update

Our season is quickly approaching and we're very excited to get our young athletes back in the gym!  Please see below for information about practices.

Practices are planned to begin the week of 10/23.  Please watch for future communication as we'll send out another message once the practice schedule has been posted to the website.

While the association will provide basketballs for each team, athletes are welcome to bring their own basketballs to practices if they prefer.  Players should not bring their own basketball to tournaments.  Below are the basketball sizes that each grade will use:

  • 3rd and 4th grade boys and girls will use a 27.5 size basketball
  • 5th and 6th grade boys and girls and 7th grade girls will use a 28.5 size basketball
  • 7th and 8th grade boys will use a 29.5 size basketball

Please be sure to use the following doors when arriving to practices and when leaving practices:

  • PVES (Pleasantview Elementary School) - Door 8 (bus side there is a Community Entrance, gym is right inside those doors)
  • MHES (Mississippi Heights Elementary School) - Door 15
  • MS (Middle School) - Door 20 (back of the school)
  • HS (High School) - Door 6

If questions on door numbers, please see the following link for building maps: https://www.isd47.org/services/buildings-grounds

As always, please contact srrybo47@gmail.com with any questions.

9/21/22 Rosters (6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams)

6th, 7th, and 8th grade rosters for the 2022-2023 season have been posted.

As mentioned previously, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teams will practice for the first 2 weeks and then coaches will split each of those grade's teams evenly. At that point, these rosters will be posted to the website.

The board is working on assigning coaches to the teams and will send out communication on that in the upcoming weeks.

We expect practices to begin the week following MEA weekend, and communication will be sent out as soon as the practice schedule has been set.

Please contact srrybo47@gmail.com with any questions.

9/15/22: Rosters/Election/Dibs

Rosters: thank you to everyone who participated in player evaluations this past weekend. We hope to have rosters finalized by the end of next week. We will contact families once these have been finalized and they will also be posted to our website.

Election: there are opportunities to become a member of the SRRYBO Board, with the Treasurer and Secretary positions (both 2 Year term) being open. A description of the positions can be found on our website at: https://www.srrybo.org/board. The election will be held at our October 5th board meeting and we encourage anyone interested in the positions to contact the board at: srrybo47@gmail.com. In addition, if anyone is interested in helping with the board as a non-voting member, please contact the board.

Dibs: going forward, if you sign up for a Dibs event and do not show up, your $100 volunteer deposit check will be cashed. Please note that you can cancel your Dibs sessions through Sports Engine (or email the board directly) ahead of time if something comes up. Doing this allows us to plan and lets others pick up the session. As stated previously, there will be many Dibs events available during our November 19/20 tournament.

If you missed the Parent Information meeting or evaluations, you will need to submit a $100 volunteer deposit check before your child will be allowed to play.

9/8/22: Evaluation and Eligibility Information

Please see below for important details regarding registration, evaluations, and eligibility.

1) Reminder that registration will be closing at 8:00 PM tonight (9/8)! Please register at: https://www.srrybo.org/reg

2) Evaluations will be held this Sunday, 9/11 at SRRHS, for the following teams only:

- 6th grade girls and 6th grade boys: 5:45 - 6:45 PM

- 7th grade boys and 8th grade boys: 7:00 - 8:00 PM

Athletes should arrive 15 minutes early so they will be ready when evaluations begin.

If possible, athletes should wear last year's SRRYBO jersey or any numbered jersey that does not have their name on it.  Parents are not allowed in the gyms during evaluations.

Board members will also be on hand to collect the required $100 volunteer deposit checks, allow for jersey try-ons, and collect the 10,000 Shot Challenge forms (and pass out the rewards).

If your child cannot attend the evaluations on Sunday, a makeup session will be available on Monday evening, 9/12 at the Middle School. Please email the board (srrybo47@gmail.com) by 5:00 PM on Friday, 9/9 if your child will not be able to attend Sunday's evaluations - as we will need to plan for the makeup session (again this only applies to 6th grade girls and 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys).

3) Due to recent MYAS requirements (https://myas.org/mn-youth-basketball-alliance/archive/revised-myba-team-composition/), students are now required to play for the association where they attend school (previously it could be where they attend school or where they live). If your child is registered, but does not attend an ISD47 school, please contact the board immediately (srrybo47@gmail.com).

Please contact the board with any questions at: srrybo47@gmail.com

8/7/22: Community Ed Open Gym Opportunities/Parent Information Night/Evaluations

Community Ed is holding open gyms on Sunday evenings from 6:00-7:30 at Mississippi Heights Elementary School, running 8/14 through 10/30. This is a great chance to kid your athletes in the gym before evaluations and before the season begins. Note that athletes should bring their own basketball and water bottle. Please sign up at: https://isd47.cr3.rschooltoday.com/public/costoption/class_id/10413/public/1/sp/

Also, note that we will be holding our Parent Information Meeting on 8/28 from 5:30 - 8:00 in the Mississippi Heights Elementary School cafeteria area (outside the gyms). During this time, our board members will be on hand to answer any questions on the upcoming season and registration, collect the required $100 volunteer deposit checks, allow for jersey try-ons, and collect the 10,000 Shot Challenge forms (and pass out the rewards).

Lastly, note that evaluations will be held on Sunday, 9/11 from 5:00 - 9:00 at SRRHS, with makeup date being Monday, 9/12 from 6:00 - 9:00 at SRRMS. Evaluations will only be held for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams that require splitting into multiple teams. Players should wear last year's jersey or any numbered jersey, if possible. More details will be coming in the future.

Please contact the board with any questions at: srrybo47@gmail.com

Thank you and Go Storm!

8/1/22: 2022-2023 SRRYBO Registration is open!

Please register by the end of the day, 8/31 at: https://www.srrybo.org/reg

6/13/22: 10,000 Shot Club

To keep the kids thinking about basketball and staying active, SRRYBO is continuing the 10,000 shot challenge.  This will run from 6/13/22 through 9/11/22 and is open to all SRRYBO youth in grades 3-8 (for 2022-2023 school year) who will be registering for the upcoming season.  All players who complete the challenge will be rewarded with their choice of a SRRYBO 10,000 Shot Club hooded sweatshirt or a pair of SRRYBO socks.

Please see the below forms for additional information.  Only the signed 10,000 Shot form will need to be turned in.  The shot tracker is only provided to help track shots and does not need to be turned in.

Forms will be collected and the rewards will be handed out in September - look for communication later in the summer.
