Concussion Safety & Information
SRRYBO Concussion Protocol
SRRYBO adheres to concussion management guidelines established by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) to ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes.
- Immediate Removal: Any athlete suspected of sustaining a concussion will be immediately removed from play and will not return on the same day under any circumstances.
- Medical Evaluation: The athlete must be evaluated by a licensed healthcare provider. Written medical clearance is required before resuming participation in any SRRYBO activity.
- Notification: Parents/guardians will be notified promptly of any suspected concussion, and SRRYBO leadership will be informed.
- Sideline Screening: Initial evaluation will be conducted by coaches or an on-site athletic trainer. All coaches must be certified in concussion awareness and management.
- Return-to-Play Protocol: Athletes may return only after all symptoms have resolved at rest and must follow a gradual, medically supervised return-to-play process. A completed Concussion Care Plan, signed by a licensed healthcare provider, must be provided before the athlete may resume participation.
